I have known this loan officer for a dozen years and during that time has been a referral partner. He has not ventured far from the banks as he has worked for two different banks during this time period. He has made a decent income, but nothing spectacular, even though he has complained about it from time to time.
I have regularly referred home equity line and construction loan business to him and he has referred loans to me that the two banks were not able to do, so we both benefited, especially our clients.
He told me that he got his pink slip this past Friday and said he just didn’t see it coming. He already has his resume out, again with a couple of different banks. Unfortunately, he would never survive working for someone like me, as he is the type of person that waits for the phone to ring or someone walks into the bank.

This is now the second bank loan officer that has lost their job. If I am seeing it, I’m sure there are many others around the country. Hopefully they will both get re-hired and we can resume our working together.
