If the current projects are accurate, both agencies will have paid back all the monies they got when the bailout happened. OK, let me ask this question, all the banks and financial institutions that got bailed out, did the FED take them over?
Right now it is a good political talking point to speak about getting rid of Fannie and Freddie and shift into more privatized system. I totally agree, but what I don’t get it, WHY NOT PRIVATIZE Fannie and Freddie again? Get the government out of the lending business and let them pay their fair share in taxes. How many of Fannie/Freddie employees are overseas?
I am all for lending in this country to get more privatized, there is a place for more entities coming into the lender side, but to screw up a great system makes little sense and would do nothing but hurt the consumer in the long run.
