"I Have 3 Jobs and Can't Get a mortgage"

This is real life. Mira was working for the same company for three years and last year had to make a life changing decision. She had been working 40 hours per week and was told that she was not needed on a full time basis, but was offered 20 hours instead and she would also lose her health coverage. She would have to buy coverage for herself and 2 children. The choice was to take the 20 hours or start collecting unemployment. She made the decision to work the 20 hours and look for additional employment in the same line of work.

She was fortunate and found part-time employment for an additional 20 hours and was almost at the same income, but still had to buy health coverage. She made the schedule work with the two employers, but still needed to take on another part-time job to pay for health insurance. She took on a 10 hour job each Saturday and she was at the same place, when she was working 40 hours and had health insurance.

Mira signed up for Obamacare, she shared the many challenges that she had getting coverage, but for now, it solved an immediate need. She came to an open house that I ran a couple of weeks ago and wanted to buy the home, but she can’t qualify with less than two years of history on two of her part-time jobs. Many folks have been downsized are collecting unemployment or doing what Mira is doing and working 2 or 3 jobs.

She wants to buy a home, instead of paying rent, but for now, she is stuck and needs to keep paying rent.
