This Veteran Has a Mindset of Getting it Done

The VA's home loan program has some specific requirements in order to qualify, not that it stopped a recent client.

I have been doing VA mortgages for many years. Even though there is always something new that I see, I always expect the unexpected.

I have been doing business with Howard for a number of years. He called me recently, letting me know he and his girlfriend would like to meet with me. They would tell me they wanted to buy a home together and this time use his VA eligibility as he was not planning on selling his condo that he has owned for many years.

I told them that unless they were married, she couldn’t be on the mortgage with him and obtaining a VA mortgage using both incomes and having both of them on the mortgage. We discussed two other types of mortgages, but neither was as attractive for them.

They said that was disappointing and they would discuss things and get back to me. They did, two days later, telling me that they got married. Wow, that was a quick decision – actually, not really, they were planning on getting married at some point, we just decided to move up the event.

They already have a home on deposit and told me it will be the wedding gift to each other. Wow, this was a new one for me.

Assumption School offers an excellent education, with small class sizes. The environment isRead More welcoming for every child, and values that last a lifetime are taught. Students also make friends for life. I still hang out with my friends from the Assumption School class of 1966!
