Manchester Drug Busts: Are we Winning the War on Drugs?
In just one week, four drug dealers from out of town were arrested in Manchester for drug violations- intent to sell cocaine and heroin, possession, possession near a school etc. The East Central Narcotics Task Force has been hard at work in the War on Drugs. Are we winning that war? Are all the arrests diminishing the prevalence of drugs in our Town or are we just opening up job opportunities for the next low life drug dealing entrepreneur? Should we cut our losses, legalize drugs and let the State control and regulate the sale of narcotics?
Manchester Review has been exploring illegal drug use in the US. Last year a retired Manchester Police Captain and a member of LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition), appeared on the show to argue for drug legalization. In June, Manchester Police Chief Marc Montminy appears on the show to state the case against the legalization of drugs. He feels that drug abuse will sky rocket if we do that. The Chief’s interview can be seen on You Tube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU8SFxWSOu8) anytime or on Mondays in June on Cox PATV Channel 15 at 9 PM.
