MCC’s OAA and The People’s Money Featured on Manchester Review in August

MR host Peak suggests summer reading for elected officials and candidates. MCC's Organization of Active Adults is featured on Manchester Review in August.

The August Manchester Review presents two different topics.  In the first segment, Scott Rasmussin’s book The People’s Money. is reviewed and recommended for summer reading. The second segment features MCC’s Organization of Active Adults, formerly  the Older Adults Association. OAA President Elaine Sweet and member David Maxwell are the featured guests.

Let’s face it, we have an entrenched “political class” that has led us into the financial hole we are in and they appear too polarized and paralyzed to deal with the problems effectively. But according to Scott Rasmussin, there is hope - if we listen to american voters. Rasmussen’s book The People’s Money will make you angry (if you are not already there), yet it is a most hopeful and encouraging work about what can be done to get us out of our financial crisis and lead us toward a brighter future. While highly critical of the “political class” for getting us into massive federal debt (much more than they admit to), Rasmussen insists that American voters have the common sense and belief in the founding principles of our country to lead us back to solvency and a healthy economy - if the politicians follow their lead - or voters elect new representatives who will listen to them.  The book is full of creative and  logical recommendations originating with American voters. The book describes how polls demonstrate voter wisdom and the seeds of strategies for making Social Security and Medicare Trust funds solvent; cutting defense without jeopardizing our security; eliminating corporate welfare (separation of government and corporations just as we have separation of church and state); reforming welfare  and  downsizing the federal government.
The People’s Money is recommended summer reading for voters and the shouel dbe required reading for the "political class."

It’s a must read for Congressman Larson, State Senator Cassano and all our other elected officials and candidates.

This segment is followed by a feature on MCC’s Organization of Active Adults.
