Gizmo Gets His Jingle On (and Other Doglet Thoughts)

Patch's Manchester and Central CT Top Dog Gizmo blogs about area events and rescue efforts. Sources say he also enjoys cookies.

And hi.  I’m Gizmo, the (3.6 pound) blogging doglet. I met an exsillent new fren!  He is an almost 5 year-old boy named Aaron, and he has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).  Because of this, Aaron can’t move his little body.  But he sure moves a lot of hearts!

He loves looking at animal pictures to help him pass the time during his breathing treatments, so he started his own page on Facebook called Aaron’s Animal Angels, where we can all share pictures with him of our animal angels. Aaron also has a new project called Aaron’s Animal Angels Stuffed Animal/Sock/Book Drive, to help children who are in a shelter or who are  hospitalized over the holidays in his home state of California.

Aaron and his mom mentioned that their dream would be to help people affected by storms like Storm Sandy, can you believe that?  I told him I could help him with that dream!  So I worked with my nonprofit Gizmo’s Frens, Inc. and, thanks to the loving generosity of so many people in addition to donations from Pet Supplies Plus, we ended up collecting so many toys for cats and dogs who were affected by the storm!

Because Aaron was so thoughtful to want to help all these pets who live all the way across the country from him, we attached a tag to every single toy, asking recipients to take a picture of their pet with his/her new toy and post it on Aaron’s page if they can.  And that way Aaron will have more animals to see during his breathing treatments!  It’s like a whole circle of giving from coast to coast!  Isn’t that exsillent news?

If you would like to share pictures of your pets with Aaron, go “Like” his Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Aarons.Animal.Angels) and tell him you’re frens with Manchester Patch’s blogging doglet Gizmo.  Don’t have Facebook?  You are welcome to write to Aaron or send pictures too.  You can even send a
stuffed animal, some socks or a book for his project if you’d like.  His address is Aaron’s Animal Angels, 2401 Waterman Blvd., Ste. A4 PMB 338, Fairfield, CA, 94534.

Before I go, there’s one more thing I need to tell you!  Remember my last blog about Gizmo’s Challenge?  The challenge is still on!  Please remember your local food pantry this holiday season, and donate some food and/or time to help them ok?  Cuz we’re frens!

Hey listen!  Did you post a picture of your animal angel on Aaron’s page?
Or do you have an exsillent story of giving you’d like to share?  Or do you like cookies? (I do!)  Please leave a comment!  I love hearing from my frens!

Sined, The Gizmo.

P.S. Want more Gizmo? See him at www.mhsredline.com
and www.facebook.com/groups/gizzywonderdoglet.  Cuz we’re frens!

Assumption School offers an excellent education, with small class sizes. The environment isRead More welcoming for every child, and values that last a lifetime are taught. Students also make friends for life. I still hang out with my friends from the Assumption School class of 1966!
