Gizmo Celebrates Tolland (and Other Doglet Thoughts...)

Gizmo, Patch's Manchester and Central CT Top Dog, blogs about area events and animal rescue efforts. Sources say he also enjoys hamburgers.

And hi.  I’m Gizmo, the (3.4 pound) blogging doglet.  I went to Tolland on  Saturday!  I never went to Tolland before, and boy am I glad I went finally! There was a big gathering of nonprofits, artisans, food vendors, and even a giant blow up slide at Celebrate Tolland, held at Tolland High School! So many people were there celebrating the heritage and community of Tolland, and the exsillent Tolland baseball teams who did so well this year. And, after seeing Manchester Patch Editor Dave Moran last Thursday at the CCC farmers market, I was so excited to see my Tolland Patch friends (Editor Jayme Kunze and Ad Manager Seth Ryan) and my Ellington-Somers Patch friend (Editor Erin Quinlan) there, and they even wore my Gizmo shirts!  I was so surprised!  There were hamburgers there too.  In case you haven’t heard, I like hamburgers.  Do you?

I also met two of Connecticut’s leaders there!  I was very surprised when both State Senator Tony Guglielmo and State Representative Brian Hulbert had an important message about rescue efforts to share with me.  They told me Our Companions Animal Rescue just built New England’s first domestic animal sanctuary! It is on 43 acres in Ashford, and it will completely transform the way in which homeless and abused animals are cared for in CT.  After many fundraisers and years of hard work, the sanctuary is finally here and is scheduled to open in October!  But the work isn’t over yet.  They now need all the supplies to make the sanctuary run.  They have a wish list for supplies on Amazon.  If you would like to help this very deserving cause by purchasing an item or 2 for them, go here.

Before I go, I have to tell you something very surprising happened this week! Many people know of a page on Facebook called The Patrick Miracle, right?  Patrick is a Pitbull that was thrown down a trash chute in an apartment building in NYC.  Completely emaciated and barely clinging to life, a wonderful team of vets and caregivers slowly but surely brought Patrick back to health! And
today he is a happy beautiful Pitbull who advocates for dogs in need.  You can visit Patrick and learn more about him here.

Well, as if Patrick’s full recovery isn’t surprising enough, guess what The Patrick Miracle did?  They shared my Facebook Fan Page right on their page!  Gizmo’s Fan Page doubled in size overnight.  Can you believe it?  And that is exsillent news because now we can reach even more people with our own animal rescue efforts!  If you would like to join Gizmo’s Fan Page, either to follow my nonprofit Gizmo’s Frens, Inc., or just to see my daily adventures, you can ask to join here.

Or if you would like to meet me, I will be at Pets Supplies Plus in Manchester on Sunday, September 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. raising funds and awareness for area pet rescues with Gizmo’s Frens, Inc.  You could even get a Gizmo shirt.  But no hamburgers.  I really like hamburgers!

Hey listen!  Do you like hamburgers?  Or were you at Celebrate Tolland on
Saturday?  Or do you know of an exsillent pet rescue that is doing amazing work? Please leave a comment and tell us about it.  I always love hearing from my frens!

Sined, The Gizmo.
