Illing Middle School Open House

Illing Middle School will be hosting its Open House on Tuesday, October 2, 2013 and Wednesday, October 3, 2013.  Parents of seventh grade students are scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, 2013.  Parents of eighth grade students and those of Team Yale (both 7th & 8th grade students) are invited to attend the Thursday, October 3, 2013 evening.  This is the first opportunity of the year for parents to meet their child’s team of teachers and tour the school.  The teachers have been diligently preparing for this annual event and hope that parents will make every effort to attend. 

 Both the seventh and eighth grade Open House evenings will commence at 6:15 p.m. with the following schedule:

6:15-7:00 p.m. – Parents tour the building and visit with their Unified Arts’ teachers;

7:00-7:10 p.m. – Parents are asked to come to the Kelley Gym and meet Illing’s new leadership team and educators new to Illing Middle School this year;

7:15-8:00 p.m. – Parents will be treated to an informative presentation by their team teachers;

 8:00 p.m. – a fond adieu and end to the evening.

From 6:15-7:00 p.m., our specialty teachers (i.e. World Language, Art, Music, Technology) will be in their classroom areas to highlight their very important curriculum and educational connections to our students.  New this year is our Greet and Get event.  Parents receive a Specialty Passport Card in the front foyer of the school.  If a parent is able to greet all special area teachers they will get a stamp or signature.  This completed card can be returned for a team incentive or even bonus points for your child.   We want to create a fun, but important interactive experience for everyone at our Open House.

 At 7:00 p.m. a quick introductory event will be hosted in the Kelley Gym prior to visitation to the specific team presentation at 7:15 p.m.  At that time, teams will be located in an area for parents to gather and interact with teachers and one another.

 Staff from Illing Middle School will be in the front foyer and around the building to help guide guests in need of building maps, directions and/or student schedules.  Since this is a parent event and space is limited, we ask that students do not attend the evening’s program.  However, if child care is difficult, please do not hesitate to bring your child. 

 We hope all parents will be able to attend our Open House.  It is important to meet the team teachers and become familiar with the protocol and related expectations of our teachers and school.  We are all excited about sharing our information with our I.M.S. family and community.
