Free Open House -- Historical Society
Manchester Historical Society invites the public to its annual free open house. Several other South Manchester organizations are also open free! Kids' activities, shopping for local-history items, tours, etc. Details: Cheney Homestead at 106 Hartford Road decorated for the holidays by the Manchester Garden Club; History Center at 175 Pine Street with children's activities and where the
museum store will be open all day with holiday gifts, including
note-cards, local history books, copies of old maps, DVDs, coffee mugs, a
new Woodbridge Farmstead tree ornament, and more; and the Old
Manchester Museum at 126 Cedar Street decorated in vintage holiday
style, this location also has a museum store. The second annual Jingleberry Bazaar
will open for the day from 10:00 to 4:00 at the History Center, with
original artwork and crafts by local artisans, "with a little bit of
sparkle, a touch of vintage chic, a dash of creativity, and handmade
treasures sure to delight." You can find the holiday spirit all
around Manchester this day! Leave your car and enjoy the free,
old-fashioned S.H.A.R.E. trolley traveling to all our Historical Society
locations and also to: Mary Cheney Library, 586 Main St., where kids
can Visit with Santa from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. • Center Memorial Park
near the library with Ice Sculpting Demonstrations from 11:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. • Strolling Dickens Carolers in Center Memorial Park and
aboard the S.H.A.R.E.Trolley from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon • Lutz
Children’s Museum, 247 South Main St. with Gingerbread Cookie Decorating
from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. S.H.A.R.E. is a collaboration of History, Art,
Recreation, and Education assets located in South Manchester. There are
trolley stop signs at each location.
