Wine Tasting Event to Benefit Families of Hartford Distributors Tragedy

German beers and wines will be available for sampling.

Patrons will get the opportunity to enjoy German beers and wines Thursday night during the sixth annual  wine tasting event, with some of the proceeds going to benefit families of last year's . 

The wine and beer tasting event will start at 5:30 p.m. at the with a portion of the proceeds also helping to fund scholarships for  students. 

“It’s gonna be a good time,”  Executive Director said.

There will be a presentation by “German nationals on the proper way to consume German beers and wines,” Carr said. There could be up to four different beers on tap and anywhere from eight to 10 wines available for sampling.

German food will be provided including warm pretzels with several varieties of mustards, mini-hotdogs and Bratwurst. Coffee and desert will be served at the end of the event.

There will also be a silent auction and a special raffle for a new television.

"I have never had anyone not like it," Mary Telkey, Chamber of Commerce member and organizer, said of the wine tasting event. "It's a wonderful event."

Telkey said the event is a chance to visit "with your neighbors and meet business owners." Around 100 people are expected to attend the event.

The event is open to the public, not just chamber members. Tickets for the tasting are $45 in advance and $60 at the door.
