Residents Urged To Clear Snow From Roofs Now - And Here's How

With more bad weather on its way and buildings collapsing under the weight of snow, residents are urged to clear off their roofs. Here's a video showing you exactly how.

With more bad weather expected this week, roofs are becoming a very real concern. Snow on a roof can add another 20,000 pounds of weight, which could damage the structural integrity of the roof or, in the worst-case scenario, cause collapse.

"Each day we are hearing about building collapses and precautionary evacuations for homes, schools, and businesses," Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said in a statement released by his office over the weekend.

More snow is expected to fall late Monday night into Tuesday, adding to the weight on already overburdened structures. "It is absolutely imperative that people get out there and get the snow off of their homes and businesses," Malloy said.
