When asked if she wanted to retract the remark she made about Joshua Komisarjevsky - that he should be hanged by his penis without a trial - State Sen. Edith Prague responded with an emphatic no this past weekend.
"I meant it," she said on Sunday. "Why should I retract it?"
Komisarjevsky is charged in the home invasion and deaths of the Petit family in Cheshire. Prague's remark reportedly caused special public defender Jeremiah Donovan to ask Judge Jon C. Blue today to delay the trial three months, because of possible influence of the jurors in the trial.

On Sunday, after speaking at the Memorial Day ceremony in Montville, Prague said she didn't regret the remark at all.
"They are such monsters," she said, speaking of Komisarjevsky and Steven Hayes, who was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death.

"Just because I'm a legislator, doesn't mean I don't have an opinion," Prague said.
She said she had no idea that her remark would cause such a firestorm of controversy. People, she said, especially women, have supported her over the remark.
"I said it," Prague said. "I meant it. I'd be the first one to do it."
