Manchester Ranks Low on Hartford Magazine's List of 'Top Towns' [POLL]

The town was ranked 23rd out of 30 towns in the Greater Hartford Area.

Hartford Magazine has released its list of "Top Towns" in the Greater Hartford area and, unfortunately, Manchester ranks near the bottom of the list.

Of the 30 towns ranked by Hartford Magazine, Manchester placed 23rd, ahead of towns like Hartford, New Britain and East Hartford, but well below the top 10 spots.

Simsbury was the top town on the list, according to Hartford Magazine, because of its "great restaurants, golf, colonial roots, one of the top libraries in the state, and is the only town in Connecticut to earn a 'bike friendly' label from the League of American Bicyclists."

Avon ranked second, and there was a four way tie for the third spot between Burlington, Glastonbury, South Windsor and Farmington.

Hartford Magazine said it based its rankings on a formula that includes educational factors in the community such as student test scores and graduation rates, economics such as home prices and the poverty rate and "quality of life" factors that include the education level of a town's residents, voter turnout, median age and population density.

Last year, ranked Manchester 9th out of 19 communities with populations over 50,000 in its list of the top towns in Connecticut.

Assumption School offers an excellent education, with small class sizes. The environment isRead More welcoming for every child, and values that last a lifetime are taught. Students also make friends for life. I still hang out with my friends from the Assumption School class of 1966!
