Girl Scout Cookie Season Starts With Cookie Drop

A Girl Scout cookie drop at Rentschler Field marks the beginning of Girl Scout cookie season.

Girl Scout enthusiasts of the region will be pleased to know that their Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs will soon be available for purchase. More than 3,000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies are arriving at Rentschler Field in East Hartford this morning.

Volunteers from area troops began picking up cases of Girl Scout cookies from semi-trucks and pallets at 9 a.m. The Cookie Drop will continue until noon.

The cookies will be loaded into the waiting cars of other Girl Scout volunteers. They will transport cookies to the scouts for delivering to their customers.

“It is truly an impressive distribution operation!” said Alyssa Mancinelli of the Girl Scouts of Connecticut.

The cookies will be distributed to Girl Scouts in Bolton, East Hartford, Glastonbury, Manchester, South Windsor and Wethersfield. Cookie booth sales will take place today through April 3.

During cookie season, girl scouts learn firsthand how to run their own cookie business. Girls learn how to set goals and meet deadlines, manage money, build people skills working with customers and develop business ethics. Girls also decide how their team will spend earned money.  

All cookies are $4 per box. The proceeds of Girl Scout cookie sales support troop funds and go toward programs for more than 44,000 girls in the state.

Girl Scouts in Enfield will be selling cookies Saturday and Sunday outside on Hazard Avenue.

In East Windsor on Saturday, scouts will be posted at on Bridge Street and at .

Windsor Locks residents can buy cookies on Saturday at the branch on National Drive.

And in Manchester, girl scouts will be stationed at Joann Fabrics, and with cookies to sell throughout the weekend.
