Connecticut Gas Prices Drop 9 Cents in a Month

The price of gas is predicted to remain steady this winter.

Connecticut’s gas prices continued its decline with a seven-cent drop in the past week, bringing the cost per gallon to $3.99. According to price tracking website ConnecticutGasPrices.com, the high a month ago was $4.08.

The national average per gallon is $3.67 and Patrick Dehaan, an analyst at GasBuddy.com, thinks the price will go lower.

“We’ll probably be over $3.00 a gallon for much of the rest of the year. We'll see a lot of between $3.30 a gallon to as much as $3.65 or $3.75 a gallon,” he said.

The reasons for the decline in price are varied.

"We've started to see prices decreasing thanks to a drop in wholesale prices, and due to the changeover to winter gasoline, there's some speculators leaving the marketplace because of the weakness of gasoline demand," DeHaan said. "That is all working to lower the cost of gasoline at the pump.
