CL&P Says More Than 300,000 Customers Still Without Power

But the utility said it was sticking to its Sunday restoration goal and placing emphasis on restoring power to schools and polling stations.

As of about 11 a.m. Friday Connecticut Light & Power was reporting that more than 300,000 of its customers still remained in the dark, but the utility said that it has restored power to more than 580,000 customers since last weekend's storm and that it remained committed to its goal of 99 percent restoration by the end of Sunday.

"We are making progress and all of the crews and our employees are working hard to have 99 percent of all customers back on by Sunday night," CL&P President Jeff Butler said in a statement Friday. "We're also placing a high priority on restoring power to schools and polling locations."

CL&P reports that it has more than 1,740 line and tree crews working to restore power throughout the state Friday and continues to import crews to help with its restoration efforts.
