CL&P Says 9,000 Customers Remain Without Power

The utility says that is less than one percent of its total customer base.

Connecticut Light & Power said that only 9,000 customers in Connecticut remained without power Tuesday night, less than one percent of its customer base, and that it had nearly 2,700 crews still working throughout the state to restore power.

"While restoration efforts continue in much of the state, we are working aggressively in the hardest hit areas of the Farmington Valley and Tolland County," CL&P President Jeff Butler said in a statement Tuesday evening. "Every available resource continues driving toward getting the power back on for all of our customers."

The company said it prioritized restoring power to polling places for Tuesday's municipal elections, and that it had personnel patrolling all 17,000 miles of its overhead distribution system to ensure electrical safety issues that might have been caused by last weekend's freak October snowstorm, such as damaged storm-damaged trees or wires, were addressed.

According to CL&P's outage map, Avon remained the town out of the 149 municipalities the utility services with the highest percentage of power outages Tuesday evening. 1,772 customers in Avon, or roughly 20 percent of the town, remained without power as of 6:50 p.m. Tuesday.

CL&P reminds customers that if your neighbors have power and you do not, to call CL&P at 800-286-2000.
