CL&P Releases Restoration Estimates for All of Connecticut

Like most of the hardest hit areas of the state, 99 percent of Manchester residents will see their power restored by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, according to information released today by the utility.

Connecticut Light & Power released a full list of power restoration estimates for all 149 towns in the state it services Wednesday morning, but that news might not be reason to celebrate in many of those towns, as the estimates state that a number of the hardest hit areas won't see 99 percent power restoration until 11:59 p.m. Sunday evening.

CL&P President Jeff Butler told reporters at a press conference at the State Armory in Hartford Tuesday night that the company was confident it could restore almost all of its customers by the end of Sunday, but also added that many customers would see their power return much sooner as the utility shifted from addressing immediate “public health and safety issues,” such as downed or sparking wires, to concentrate more fully on restoration efforts.

More than 880,000 CL&P customers lost power as a result of , and the company said in a release Wednesday morning that it had restored power to more than 400,000 of those customers.

“Our goal remains to restore the vast majority of customers by Sunday, November 6,” Butler said in the release.  “We continue to ask for and receive help from out-of-state crews and contractors as our crew counts grow daily. We understand how frustrating it is to be without power and are working as quickly and safely as possible.”
