Meet the Team: Ambulance Service of Manchester's Shawn Davis

Shawn Davis is one of ASM's Johnson Medics. This group of paramedics serves the area around Johnson Memorial Medical Center as well as the hospital's STAT transport needs.

I was born and raised in Eastford, Connecticut. I attended Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School in Danielson where I trained as a Mechanical Draftsman. Directly out of school I went to work as a machinist. I began volunteering for the Eastford Independent Fire Company (EIFC) when I was 19, obtaining certification as an EMT in 1998. I soon followed my EMT training with certifications of Firefighter I and II and Hazard Materials-Operations. In my 10 years of service at EIFC, I served as Assistant Medical Officer and Fire Lieutenant.

I began working at the Ambulance Service of Manchester as an EMT in June of 2002. The high call volume and mixed environments gave me th opportunity to hone both my interpersonal skills and medical knowledge. In 2005, I started Paramedic Training at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA. I completed my precepting and was cleared for independent dispatch in October 2008.

I met my wife, Tiffany in 2000 and moved to Southbridge, MA in 2003. We were married in May 2004. We have two dogs, Jake (a rat terrier) and Angus (a black pug). My wife is a Shared Living provider for the Department of Developmental Services in Massachusetts and she takes care of a 37 year old mentally challenged woman that lives with us. We also run a small catering business.

In our free time we enjoy entertaining friends and family with parties and cook outs. I enjoy golfing and rooting for Boston sports teams. I am also a huge fan of Jimmy Buffett and act like a kid at Christmas time, the closer it gets to his annual show at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA.

I enjoy working as the Johnson Medic because it is a lot like the small town environment that I grew up in. Read more about The Johnson Medic program here.
