Rev Up With an Autumn Health Resolution

Rather than feeling bummed about the end of summer approaching, get revved up with a autumn health or fitness resolution.

With Labor Day weekend symbolizing the end of summer, I can hear the groaning around me! Rather than feeling bummed about the transition, think of it as a time to get revved up. You don’t need to wait for New Year’s to start a new resolution or plan a new challenge for yourself. Any day is good for that, but autumn is a great time to start something fresh. I’m a little biased since fall is my favorite season, but doesn’t the back-to-school period and the changing of the leaves feel like a perfect time to adopt a new healthy habit or take on a fitness venture?

As you’re relaxing on the beach or hanging out by the camp fire this weekend, think about your autumn health resolution(s). It could be as small as decreasing one unhealthy food option each day, (although I admit that is easier said than done) or training for a marathon. What about walking at least three days per week or trying a new form of exercise? The options are endless and can be so different for everyone. Everyone should have a goal in mind when it comes to their physical fitness - make it realistic and write it down!

Speaking of goals, autumn can also be an opertune time to try a new fitness challenge. New England is home to so many different races and exercise events and there is definitely something for everyone. You can easily find an event close to home or plan a destination weekend for a little getaway. Here are a few sites you may want to check out:
