Manchester Resident Joins End Hunger Connecticut!'s SNAP Team
End Hunger Connecticut!, a statewide anti-hunger and food security organization, with headquarters in Hartford, today announced the addition of Jacquelyn Andstrom of Manchester and Steven Gavron of Newington as SNAP Call Center Associate and SNAP Outreach Coordinator, respectively.
“We’re excited to welcome Jackie and Steve to End Hunger Connecticut! and to enhance our SNAP team’s capacity,” Lucy Nolan, Executive Director, End Hunger Connecticut!, said. “Our newest additions bring strong community organizing skills and a passion for improving food security in Connecticut to the team and we look forward to collaborating with them on a wide-range of initiatives.”

As a SNAP Call Center Associate, Ms. Andstrom will provide eligibility prescreening and online application assistance to SNAP applicants. She will also assist with SNAP case follow-up. Prior to joining End Hunger Connecticut!, she served as a research intern for CitySeed and Hartford Food System and an interviewer for the Quinnipiac Polling Institute. She has led community service teams on projects throughout New Haven and volunteered for food banks in Connecticut. Outside of the office, Ms. Andstrom can be found hiking and teaching children’s yoga classes.

As SNAP Outreach Coordinator, Mr. Gavron will work to increase the number of eligible individuals and families participating in SNAP with a focus on the Connecticut communities with the largest gaps between SNAP eligibility and participation rates. He brings an extensive background in community organizing to End Hunger Connecticut!, having previously served as Executive Director of the CT AIDS Action Council and Director of the LGBT Hate Crime Project at the CT Women’s Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF) where he assisted victims of hate crimes in advocating for improved public policy. Outside of the office, Mr. Gavron can be found hiking, biking, skiing and volunteering his time in support of various political campaigns.
