New Owner Looks to Take Onyx Soundlab to New Heights

The Manchester studio is under new ownership and Savino Melluzo Jr. has high hopes for the 7-year-old recording business.

Southington resident Savino Melluzzo Jr. is looking to take , the well-known Manchester recording studio, to new heights.

Melluzzo acquired the studio, which was launched in 2005, in recent weeks and is hopeful that it will remain a hotspot for new music and home to countless commercial artists. The studio has already hosted recording artists ranging from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Pussy Cat Doll Jessica Sutta, world renowned DJ Paul Van Dyk and former Destiny's Child member Latavia Robertson.

Melluzzo, a 21-year-old full time music producer, will continue with current record contracts as well as focus on attracting new business in the entertainment industry to Connecticut. 

“Client's come to Onyx from all over the world, and I'm excited and honored to continue growing the studio and demonstrating that Connecticut is a viable place for the entertainment business,” said Melluzzo. “I'm also eager to begin developing new Connecticut talent that we can bring to some major label attention.”

The original founders, Adam von Gootkin and Peter Kowalczyk, have decided to focus entirely on , Connecticut's first legal producers of Moonshine. 

“We are extremely happy to see the legacy of Onyx Soundlab continued and are confident Savino will continue maintaining it as one of the top studios in New England,” said Adam von Gootkin.

The studio production schedule is back on track and the studio is currently accepting new projects.
