Ways To Support Your Bennet Student* (*And Still Be A Cool Parent!)

We're at T-minus 3 days and counting, and the Bennet Academy PTSA Executive Board has been really busy....for one thing, busy preparing to actually BECOME the Executive Board (that's right - we have not yet been voted in!  All the more reason you'll need to join us at our first meeting, September 10, 7 pm in the Media Center at Bennet.  How else will we get all this stuff done?)

We met with Principal Joe Chella last week to discuss all the cool things both the school and our PTSA would like to accomplish for the kids in the coming year.  There are so many opportunities you'll have for supporting not only your own children, but the approximately 420 students attending Bennet in the coming year.  We know that parental involvement equals success, but did you know it also takes a village to raise a child?  That's the attitude our City of Village Charm has when it comes to our own.  Involvement improves the quality of life we have here in Manchester.  When you get involved, you create a sense of community, of belonging.  The best part is, that feeling goes beyond  you...it extends to your child, too!

So, how to get involved? It starts by joining Bennet PTSA.  You don't have to be a parent, or a student, or even a teacher.  Community members showing their support for PTSA is important.  Community matters.  And you can join online- what could be easier than that?  Just visit http://bennet.townofmanchester.org/pta.htm and join us, plus get up to date information on the great things we're doing at Bennet Academy!

Target Stores is in the middle of their annual Give With Target drive.  With a facebook account you can simply click and vote for Bennet Academy and the school will receive $1 in supplies for each vote (plus you can vote weekly! How cool is that?!)  All you just have to click the link.  Couldn't be easier. Cast your vote for Bennet here: http://givewith.target.com/school/9017?

Your friendly PTSA To-Be Vice President  Mindy Smith, Treasurer Rich Walsh and Secretary Shannon Kievman have been hard at work talking with local restaurant owners and managers about supporting Bennet through monthly dine-out nights.  This will be a great way to raise money for PTSA and have the opportunity to meet other parents, let our kids socialize outside of school, and have a delicious meal, too!  The first one is scheduled for Wednesday September 18, 6-9pm at Sweet Frog in the Plaza at Buckland Hills (also known to all the Bennet kids as "next to Game Stop")

Are you a parent or community member with a local business that would like to support Bennet?  Let us know!  Email bennetacademyptsa@gmail.com and together we can develop a partnership for the following year to benefit both our students and your business!

And finally, start saving those Box Tops, because at Bennet Academy, we'll turn them into cash for our school!  Box Tops Coordinator Gabrielle Light is busy coming up with fun ideas to help raise money with Box Tops - each one is worth TEN CENTS!  That adds up fast!

Remember to take lots of photos the first day of school.  Hug 'em, kiss 'em, maybe even embarrass 'em a little bit.  Then send them off knowing they are in for a spectacular year at Bennet Academy!
