So...How'd It Go?

The first day of school for the town of Manchester - another one for the books. Our fifth grader who attends Waddell loves her new teacher,  her new Principal, and school lunch.  My Bennet boy was psyched to have his own locker (though it's on the bottom row so  he has to bend down, oh the horrors!); he is excited at the prospect of only knowing three kids on Team Franklin (remember, a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet!); and he is fascinated by the suspended track in the gym, the covered-up pool, and the fact that an old bowling alley still exists in the Bennet basement.  It's good to know our kids have such an interest in the history of Manchester's schools!

In case you haven't heard already, Manchester is streamlining its returning students' information processing - instead of those duplicate index cards we all dread filling out each year, they've gone to an online system.  To access it you'll need a "Snapcode," which will be coming from school soon.  The link to re-register (verify) is https://secure.infosnap.com/family/message.aspx?code=actionprivate.

So what does September bring for our Bennet kids?  First, it's our September PTSA meeting.  Tuesday September 10, 7pm, Media Center at school.  Your friendly board Grahame Winters Slogesky, Malynda Smith, Shannon Kievman and Richard Walsh look forward to meeting you!  Participation in PTSA is an easy way to stay involved.  You  may have noticed, your child may not have been overly willing to have you walk them to the bus stop this morning...or drop them off where everyone could see you...while the self-consciousness of pre-teendom is starting to set in; you can support them at PTSA (and they don't even have to know about it!  Just kidding.  Well, sort-of.)

September 11 is picture day!  Order forms from Geskus came home in the "This n' That" folder today.  Easily order online at www.gsorder.com.

September 16 & 17 is Open House!  More information will be coming shortly.

Remember to vote for Bennet through the Give With Target program - you can vote every 5 days, and every vote is worth $1 in supplies to the school!  Visit https://apps.facebook.com/givewithtarget/school/9017

Remember it will take a few days for the bus drivers to get the timing perfect on their routes, so allow a little extra time at the bus stop these first couple weeks.  Be patient!  Everything will settle down quickly.

And remember to join PTSA so you'll have a vote at the meeting on the 10th!  Join easily using your PayPal account at http://bennet.townofmanchester.org/pta.htm.
