Watch C.A.S.T. Rehearse for Bye Bye Birdie

The theatre group will be performing the musical at Manchester High School through Saturday.

Now in its 24th year, C.A.S.T Children's Theatre will present the 1960s musical “Bye Bye Birdie,'' August 4, 5 and 6 at the Bailey Auditorium at Manchester High School. The play is set in the 1950s where teenage girls worship an Elvis Presley-type singer, much to the consternation of their parents.

Rock and roll star Conrad Birdie is about to be drafted into the army, leaving behind his young adoring fans. His manager, Albert Petersen, decides to stage a publicity stunt where the teen idol will appear on the Ed Sullivan show and kiss his biggest fan goodbye before his departure.

Remaining showtimes will be Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 for seniors and children, and $15 for adults. For more information call 860-649- 5062 or go to the website www.casttheatre.org.
