Once every four years, Swedish-American singers from across the United States gather in convention to share their love of Swedish and American song.  This year, we are fortunate to have this event in our own backyard.  The American Union of Swedish Singers (or AUSS) will converge in New Haven from June 26-30, with a public Grand Concert with 300 singers to be held on Friday evening, June 29 at 7:30 pm in the beautiful Lyman Auditorum at Southern CT State University, 501 Crescent Street, New Haven.  A guest chorus and two guest conductors from Sweden will participate, including the leading conductor and pianist, Håkan Sund, and conductor and composer, Lennart Johansson.  This is your opportunity to experience the incredible beauty of the Swedish song literature and American songs as well. The last time this event was held in Connecticut was 1978, in Bridgeport.  Tickets are available through Lyman Center (203-392-6154) or at the door: $10, seniors: $5, children over 10: $5, under 10: free.

Assumption School offers an excellent education, with small class sizes. The environment isRead More welcoming for every child, and values that last a lifetime are taught. Students also make friends for life. I still hang out with my friends from the Assumption School class of 1966!
