Murals for Peace Transform Broad Street Parkade into a Work of Art
Artists were hard at work over the weekend giving the old shopping center a colorful and peaceful facelift.
The one thing you can’t say about the Broad Street Parkade, the dilapidated former shopping plaza that is slated for demolition by the town, is that it is the least bit attractive.
But a group of local artists are hoping to change that through , a two-day event designed to spruce up the blighted building before its demolition by painting murals and symbols of peace all over it.
An estimated 50 local artists will take part in the event – the only requirement is that you provide $10 toward the cost of primer and provide your own paint – which is scheduled from 9 a.m. to sundown on Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19.
