Manchester Taps New Troubadour

The following is a press release from the Little Theatre of Manchester at Cheney Hall:

Manchester "crowned" its first ever Town Troubadour at a concert/competition on Saturday evening (May 11) at historic Cheney Hall. The Manchester Arts Commission sponsored the event that saw local singer/songwriter Dan Thompson win by popular vote over Monique Hill.

Both Hill and Thompson sing in vocal ensembles, Horizon Blue and The Guinea Pigs, respectively, but they competed as solo artists. Thompson will now offer his musical talents at various Town events including Imagine Main Street during Pride in Manchester Week – June 6, and the Commission’s Arts Hall of Fame Induction on June 26.

The title of Troubadour was created out of the ever growing popularity of arts and culture in Manchester and to mirror what the State of Connecticut has done since 1991.  The Town Board of Director’s sanctioned the Commission’s request to find a Troubadour for the community, and the event was planned. The Saturday night event also included performances by two former State Troubadours, Lara Herscovitch and Hugh Blumenfeld, and singer/songwriter David Sutherland.

Information about the Commission can be found on their Facebook page.
