Imagine Main Street to Host June Event on Thursday, June 6, 2013

The following is a press release from Pride in Manchester. 

Pride in Manchester Week continues this Thursday June 6th with Imagine Main Street’s Strollin’ on Main event from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.  

Although Strollin’ on Main is a traditional Pride in Manchester Week event, this event marks the 2nd year the event is sponsored by the Imagine Main Street Committee.  

Imagine Main Street’s mission is to revitalize the downtown historic district of Manchester through the economic and cultural impetus of the arts.  This year’s Strollin’ on Main event is dependent on critical community partnerships with organizations such as the Town of Manchester, the Downtown Manchester Special Services District, Manchester Community College and the Pride in Manchester Committee.

The program for the evening will take place on Main Street in Manchester between Center Street and School Street.  
Highlights of the Strollin’ on Main program for this year include:

Local Art – the work of local artists will be on display in the windows of most Main Street businesses.  There will also be two exhibits of art from local schools.

Music – there will be music in many locations up and down Main Street throughout the evening, including MCC on Main, the Forest Street parking lot, several sidewalk locations and Center Park.

Fitness/Dance – Join Samadhi Yoga Studio for Yoga in Center Park at 6:30.  In the Forest Street parking lot there will be an early evening Zumba® Fitness class between 6:00 and 7:00.  There will also be a performance by Connecticut Concert Ballet at 7:45 in the Forest Street parking lot.

Oak Street Block Party – a portion of Oak Street will be traffic free.  Activities include food, music, dance, special business promotions, demos and give-aways.  There will also be a “surprise event” at 7:00.

Wine and Beer Tastings – tastings will be available at three locations on Main StreetA copy of the detailed program of the evening’s happenings can be obtained beginning at 6:00 at the Event Hospitality/Information Center at First Niagara Bank, 923 Main Street.  

There will also be “Imagine Specials” at the following Main Street restaurants:

Imagine Main Street’s July event is Thursday evening July 11th.
