Help Manchester Postal Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Saturday

Last year, the food drive gathered more than 70 million pounds of food, bringing the NALC's grand total to 1.2 billion pounds of food collected.

On Saturday, May 11, Middletown postal carriers will be toting more than our mail as they will be participating in the National Association of Letter Carriers' annual food drive.

According to the NALC's website, "more than 1,400 NALC branches in just about every city, state and territory will have letter carriers, family members and thousands of volunteers out and about to help collect, sort and distribute the cans, boxes and jars of non-perishable food items left in bags next to customers’ mailboxes."

Last year, the food drive gathered more than 70 million pounds of food, bringing the NALC's grand total to 1.2 billion pounds of food collected.

Food collected during the NALC food drive benefits the Branford Food Pantry, which can always use donations of cereal, juice, peanut butter, jelly, baked beans rice and pasta sauce; along with canned items such as fruits, vegetables, tuna, meats (beef stew, hash, ravioli etc.).

Will you be leaving a donation at your mailbox on Saturday?
