Celtic Vespers

On Sunday, June 3rd at 7:00 p.m., St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 41 Park St. Manchester is offering Celtic Vespers, a service featuring prayers and music of Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales. This candlelight service, steeped in tradition, invites one to enter into a place of rest, prayer and reflection. Light refreshments will be served following the service.

Celtic Vespers is being offered in conjunction with Pride in
Manchester Week 2012. St. Mary's is built on land donated by the Cheney family, owners of the silk mills. Several Tiffany windows located in the chancel of the old St. Mary's (completed in 1883) are Cheney family memorial gifts. The
"new" St. Mary's was built in 1955 and has a stone from Iona, Scotland embedded in the chapel altar. The church baptistery contains a mural (1961) depicting the baptism of the Ethiopian Eunuch painted by local artist Hans Weiss.
