"5 Things You Need to Know About..." Good Friday, Amber Alerts, and Earth Day

Local offices are closed for Good Friday, but there's still plenty going on Friday, April 22.

1. Today is Good Friday, which will see town offices and libraries closed, although the town landfill will be open and trash will be collected on a regular scheduled. 

The U.S. Postal service works on Good Friday, so expect mail today. 

2. Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union will host an  at its Rocky Hill location (521 Cromwell Ave.) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.

3. Friday also sees a pair of blood drives in the area, both sponsored by the Red Cross. The first, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be held at the Promenade Shoppes at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor. Mountain Laurel SLC, at 1177 Hebron Ave. in Glastonbury, will also host a blood drive from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information or to schedule an appointment call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org.
