Safe School Grounds Open House

Pesticide use is hazardous – particularly to the development of children’s immune and central nervous systems.  In order to protect the health of our children, we need to make our school grounds free of toxic chemicals. 

In 2005, Connecticut made history by becoming the first state in the United States to ban synthetic pesticide use on school grounds at elementary schools. The law was amended to cover day care centers and middle schools in 2007.  This past March, a bill that would expand Connecticut’s pesticide ban to high school fields was unfortunately stalled.
