Pratt & Whitney Collects and Donates Mittens to Homeless Shelter

Employees of Pratt & Whitney’s Materials Control Laboratory (MCL) in East Hartford led the company’s global effort to collect and donate mittens and gloves to the Marshall House Homeless Shelter in Hartford during the recent holiday season.

Participating in the National Mitten Tree Day on December 6th, Pratt & Whitney collected 146 pairs of mittens and gloves from employees all over the world, including as far away as Taiwan and Korea.  Pratt & Whitney’s MCL staff came together on Dec. 6 to assemble the tree, shown in photo, which included mittens and gloves from infant sized to extra-large men’s sizes and all sizes in between.

The Marshall House Homeless Shelter, the recipient of Pratt & Whitney’s donation, is an organization for families in need run by the Salvation Army.  For more information about Pratt & Whitney’s community programs, visit http://utc-makethingsbetter.com.
