Paula Lajaunie Viscogliosi started her own business specializing in custom-designed hand-woven rugs at the age of 26 with an initial investment of $20,000.  Over the course of twenty years, Textures Design grew into a multi-million dollar international design studio with a retail gallery in Soho and Uptown Manhattan.

Working with an array of international artists as well as an in-house design team, Textures was dedicated to combining the quality of old world craftsmanship with innovative, inventive design.

At the root of Textures’ business model was always a deep respect for the artisans and communities that contributed to the studio’s success. Through support of organizations such as Rugmark, a non-profit working to end illegal child labor in the carpet industry, and its own business practices, Textures was committed to social responsibility and giving back to those people and places involved in the creation of its products.

In recent years, Paula has chosen to focus her attention on the historic restoration and interior design of two of the Cheney Mansions on the Great Lawn in Manchester.  She is also committed to the revitalization of the Cheney Brothers National Historic Landmark District and applying her entrepreneurial skills to local organizations such as MCC on Main, Imagine Main Street and the Manchester Historical Society.
