Manchester Students Attend Class Outdoors During Pratt & Whitney-Sponsored Discovery Center Camp Week

Fifth-grade students from Manchester's Washington and Keeney schools captured a millipede during an outdoor class as part of a Discovery Center camp week sponsored by Pratt & Whitney. The Discovery Center is a non-profit organization founded by Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in the early 90s that fosters an appreciation of cultural, racial and socio-economic differences and teaches children how to get along despite these dissimilarities. Nearly 100 students from both schools participated in the camp where activities included rope courses, climbing walls, arts and crafts, basketball and outdoor studies of STEM-related (Science, Math, Engineering and Mathematics) topics.  For more information about Pratt & Whitney’s community programs, visit www.utc.com/makethingsbetter
