It's a New Year with New Electric Rates

Check your electric bill this month, because the electric supplier rates are going up by 20% or more (CL&P's delivery rate is about the same).  What can you do to control your electric bills?  The easiest place to start is to be more careful about how you use electricity; don't waste it!  But it may be a good time to check what competing suppliers are offering at www.ctenergyinfo.com  .   There are a great many offerings there from different suppliers, with fixed rates for one year or variable month-to-month.  Some have an early termination charge and some do not.   Some offer more renewable power than the state-required 17%, but most just meet the requirement.  Many options to select from for what is most important to you: do you want a fixed low price for the whole year or do you want to reduce global warming by buying renewable power?  The higher electric rates makes buying a solar electric system look even better now!  You can lock-in your electric costs for the next 30 years, below current costs, by buying or leasing your own photo-volataic system.  The Solarize Manchester volume discount program is more than halfway over now, so if you want to install solar, don't wait, as the discounts expire on Feb 20th, and it takes some time to get all the approvals done.  With the higher electric rates this year the savings are even higher than last year... and you can still get the discount (it increases as more homeowners sign up).  Jack Peak has a story about it on this month's MANCHESTER REVIEW on the Cox community channel 15 or online here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDJVEiK_3Ns&feature=youtu.be
For info about the program see the website at http://solarizect.com/our-towns/manchester/ or call our town's approved installer ENCON Solar at 203-375-5228.   If you have a sunny roof, with the new higher electric rates and the Solarize discount this is a great time to go solar.  You can lower your cost with no down payment, but get started before the program ends!
