Community Corner

Health Kits for Hope

A few years ago, the members of the Second Congregational Church of Manchester helped to coordinate a community-wide drive to assemble Health Kits in response to the disasters in Haiti and Japan.  In total, we were able to collect enough for over 350 kits between the two drives.  Health kits are personal hygiene items that are distributed to victims of natural disasters in this country and throughout the world.

Although time has passed, the need is still great, as natural disasters –hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, wildfires, and tornadoes – continue to occur.  About 20,000 kits were distributed in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy alone!  This is why we would like to appeal to the community of Manchester to participate in our Health Kits for Hope Drive.

You can assemble your own Health Kit or contribute any of the items from the list below.  Our greatest need is for facecloths and hand towels.  We currently have PLENTY of Band-Aids, a good supply of nail clippers, and a few soaps and combs.

¨ One toothbrush (in original packaging)
