It’s Not Too Soon to Think of Walking

Yes, the weather outside is frightful, but the 10th anniversary NAMIWalk will be delightful.

And it’s not too soon to sign up for the chief fundraising event of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which will be held in Hartford’s  Bushnell Park on Saturday, May 18.

This is especially true if you want to bring a team to the event. In the months leading up to the Walk, team captains are given “challenges” and can win gifts for their efforts. Those efforts over the past decade have raised close to a million dollars for the free support groups and educational programs NAMI|Connecticut provides in dozens of places across the state.

Not to mention how the Walk has raised people’s consciousness about mental illness and reduced the stigma that has stood between so many and the care they need.

All donations are tax deductible. Persons wishing to participate or donate should sign up in advance. For more information, visit www.namiwalks.org/connecticut or call Janice Shilosky or Iris Nazario at 800-215-3021.
