George Who, Justice and Inbetween ?

Thursday closing arguments began in the George Zimmerman murder trial. The tragedy in the case, Trayvon Martin is dead. Mr. Zimmerman killed him in a struggle. Zimmerman says he killed Martin out of a fear HE was going to die. Florida has a law saying you may defend your life by taking the one you feel is about to take yours. Simple, Right? It might be if every Lawyer, TV 'Judge', Commentator, former Detective and, Well, pretty much every person within range of a working camera who can speak......or try to. How many people of any color have been killed by another person of any color since the night this sadness started? Too many! A zillion people haven't talked it to death. Deciding who was wrong, who said something stupid and how many people should be labeled racist. How many of these other murders did the president comment on, "If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon." Justice is no longer blind, it labels everyone involved. I wasn't there the night Zimmerman shot Martin. Despite the overkill in coverage, I can't say if George Zimmerman felt he was about to die. I think he did. Martin confronted him and apparently was on top and throwing punches when he died. The witness who was on the phone with Martin shared details of the call that used the word "cracker", generously, to describe Zimmerman. That would seem to indicate an element of reverse racism, or not. For the record, George Zimmerman has said, "These $*%$#@ #$@%$^ always get away." Somebody somewhere believes that to be.....questionably, possibly borderline racist...Or Not! So now that Justice isn't blind it is clearly confused and buried under mounds of 'evidence' that is thin and miles long. Justice can be seen running with her scales in one hand while the other chases and grabs for something......Anything to cover her eyes again! George Zimmerman has faults, me too! He also had a permit to carry a loaded gun. Then Florida gave ALL FLORIDIANS the right to kill someone who comes along and beats you with the result being you feel you are going to die. Frankly, Self Defense has been around for, well, for a very long time. George Zimmerman thought he might die that night and killed Trayvon Martin. Two families will never be the same. Dreams have been shattered for all. For me, Zimmerman followed the law as it stands in Florida. And, were that law absent, the same result may have occurred; Self preservation would have kicked. None of us can be sure what we would do under similar circumstances. We can certainly agree we don't want to find out anytime soon. Common sense should tell us the gathering of 'experts' and all the lawyers, commentators...and Bloggers won't bring Justice with us to the next story. Police Officers, evidence and arrests. Juries will listen, Prosecutors, Defense lawyers and Judges will do a well practiced dance. Then, God willing, Justice will be served.
