The Manchester Public Library is pleased to host Keith Nielsen, costume designer for multiple Hallmark movies as well as various TV, film, and theater productions for “In Conversation with Keith Costumes” on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Whiton Branch Library on 100 North Main Street.
Nielsen, a Manchester resident now based in New York City, has worked on costume design for the Hallmark Channel’s A Merry Scottish Christmas, Where Are You Christmas?, A Biltmore Christmas, and Mystic Christmas, the latter of which is set in Mystic, Connecticut. He also designed costumes for the Amazon Prime TV series Mozart in the Jungle, the Westchester Broadway Theater, and other TV, film, and theater productions. With over 32 design credits to his name, he has draped the glittering stars of Hollywood in his exquisite creations, from the illustrious Christopher Lloyd to the captivating Ann-Margret. The spotlight of his genius has also graced the Radio City Rockettes, casting them in a dazzling array of 1950s attire that captivated audiences in 2022’s A Holiday Spectacular. In a panel moderated by his former art teacher Sharon Cavanaugh of the Connecticut Art School, Keith will talk about his experiences designing costumes and will also share sketches, video, pictures, and costumes he’s created. A Q&amp;A session will follow the panel.

Hartford Funny Bone Comedy Club and Restaurant

Finesse Mitchell has been seen almost everywhere. He’s currently on Hulu’s History Of The World Part II playing the Rev. Jesse Jackson opposite of Wanda Sykes. He’s guest-hosted for The Wendy Williams talk show on Fox. He’s a guest judge on Netflix’s, “Is It Cake?”, a favorite celeb guest on Pictionary, and Fox’s last Lego-Masters Bricktacular holiday event.
Finesse has been a multi-faceted actor, author, and stand-up comedian with four one-hour comedy specials titled, “Snap Famous”, “One Man Monster”, “The Spirit Told Me To Tell You” and 2023’s self-produced “Slightly Offensive” under his belt.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Finesse graduated from the University of Miami and is a distinguished member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He is also a former student-athlete who was a walk-on for the National Champion Hurricanes football team where he played Hurricane greats like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Warren Sapp, and Ray Lewis.
Finesse entered the comedy scene in 1999 with appearances on BET’s Comic View and Comedy Central. In 2003, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for three seasons where he played the memorable “Starrkeisha” and frequently appeared on “Weekend Update” with Seth Myers as Morgan Freeman, 50 Cent, and Bobby Brown. In addition to being an SNL Alum, his other television acting credits include NBC’s Kenan, Fox’s Outmatched, ABC’s Splitting Up Together, Showtime’s Roadies,
Disney Channel’s A.N.T. Farm (China’s Dad), and TBS Tyler Perry’s Meet The Browns.
Mitchell has also appeared on daytime talk shows such as The Talk on CBS, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Real, Dish Nation, and NBC’s Today Show. During late-night, you might have seen him on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The
Late Show with Seth Meyers, The Arsenio Hall Show, and Comic’s Unleashed just to name a few. You can also catch Finesse starring in movies like Mad Money, Who’s Your Caddy, The Comebacks, and Mad Families. In 2022, Mitchell starred in OWN’s holiday Christmas movie, “Great Holiday Bake War” with more feature film projects on the way.
Finesse resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Adris Debarge, and their two daughters, Elle and Eva Mitchell.

Join us for our Annual Butterfly Stroll! This year we are also celebrating Manchester's newly designated Arts &amp; Culture District.
Stroll along Downtown Main Street to enjoy butterfly creations and decorations enjoy and create art listen to live music eat shop and more! This year you can collect flowers along your stroll with our build-a-bouquet activity. 
There will be crafts for children and adults photo opportunities music art shopping and great food. 
This event kicks off our Summer 2nd Saturdays Downtown series and that means The Market at 1115 Main returns - and this year it will be larger than ever! Shop from local artisan makers enjoy the music and have some fun! 
Stop by The Market at 1115 Main or Silk City Coffee to pick up a recycled vase and begin our build-a-bouquet activity! At the end of your stroll you will have a small bouquet of 6 flowers! (One bouquet per household while supplies last).
