Buried Under Comics to Reopen Thursday

The store will have a new name and new ownership, but hopes to keep the same customer-friendly vibe.

For the first time since Brian Kozicki's untimely death in late August, comics will be sold again at the store at 188 West Middle Turnpike come Thursday.

Although the store will have a new name and owner, it is still hoping to have the same customer-friendly vibe and aiming to be one of the more popular comic book destinations east of the river.

April Kenney, an East Hartford resident who described herself as Kozicki's "best friend and behind-the-scenes business assistant" for a number of years, has purchased the store's inventory and plans to change the name from Buried Under Comics to A Hero's Legacy in honor of Kozicki.

"This was Brian's dream. He poured his whole life into this place, so he would want to keep it open," Kenney told Patch in September.

Doors will open at A Hero's Legacy at 10 a.m. for a "soft opening" Thursday, preceded by a ribbon cutting by Mayor Leo V. Diana that is scheduled for 9:45 a.m.

There will be A Hero's Legacy coffee mugs and bumper stickers available, a sale is planned for the store's "official opening" in November, but, above all - comics will be available again at the store!
