Arson Suspected in Clocktower Mills Apartment Fire

A fire early Saturday morning in the Clocktower Mills Apartment complex appears to have been deliberately set, according to fire officials.

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at the Clocktower Mills Apartments complex on Elm Street that occurred early Saturday morning.

According to a statement released by Manchester Fire Chief Robert Bycholski, residents in the complex reported a fire at approximately 3 a.m. Saturday morning in a neighboring unit. Fire personnel arrived to find a fire in Unit 524 of the "B Wing" of the complex, according to Bycholski, and began evacuating residents in the surrounding apartments.

Bycholski said the unit's sprinkler system was able to contain the fire, and when firefighters began to search for any hidden embers or additional ares of fire they noticed what appeared to be several other attempts in the unit to start a fire and called police.

Bycholski said police are looking for a "person of interest' in the suspected arson and that residents of the complex should not be concerned that an unknown person is setting fires on the property.
